Nice To Meet You!

Meet The Author

Hi, I’m Cassie!

I am a Canadian children’s book author living in Cambridge, Ontario with my family. I’m a mom to my three-year-old daughter, and my books are inspired by story time with her and our everyday family experiences. I am the author, publisher, and designer of the Going to the Cottage series (Summer, Fall, Winter), where I create playful, relatable stories that celebrate family moments, being outdoors, and everyday adventures.

Cottage life has been part of my life for over 30 years, and it remains my favourite place to visit. To me, the cottage represents one important word: connection.

While on maternity leave, I was reading a book about camping to my daughter, who was 18 months old at the time. It made me wonder if there were any books for young readers about going to the cottage– something my family had done my entire life. I wanted a story that would help teach my daughter about the simple joys of cottage life and all the activities we could experience together. When I couldn’t find a book that felt quite right, I decided to create one. I felt there was room for more children’s literature that reflects Canadian cottage culture, a tradition shared and enjoyed by many families.

My family cottage was on Buckhorn Lake near Ennismore, ON and my husband’s family spent their summers on Doe Lake in Katrine, Ontario. One of my favourite cottage traditions is gathering around the campfire with family—stepping away from busy day-to-day life to reconnect, share stories, make s’mores, play music, and simply enjoy being together. These moments of connection are at the heart of every story I write.
